Thanks to a grant from the Tabita foundation we have been able to buy a soccer game for the boys, repaint the inside and outside after the rainy season and buy a new printer.

Back in Ziguinchor

Finally I`m here again in Ziguinchor after almost a year. Safe to know that our manager Saliou manages the business so well! /Kristina

Lecture at Rotary

We were invited by Rotary on Lidingö to give a lecture on DPE at their breakfast meeting.

Volunteers

During the month of March, Alicia and Kalle work as volunteers with us. This pleases us as well as the children!

Another visit

DPE has had a visit from Sweden by Ingmarie and Marlene. We hope that they may return as volonteers.

A visit

A welcome visit from Sebastian who volunteered with us at DPE two years ago.

Volunteers

During November we have two Swedish volunteers working with us in the DPE center. They are Annika and Viktoria, two nurses.

New contribution

Thanks to a targeted contribution from Sevholt Relief Fund, we have been able to buy a motorbike that makes it easier for Saliou to reach out to the daaras/koran schools to provide wound care.

Excursion

A very successful excursion was organized by DPE to a crocodile park in Djibélor. It was an advanture for the boys!

Three years anniversary

In May we celbrate three years since we opened the DPE centre

Shoes

A contribution from the Tabita foundation

Thanks to this contribution we can now finish the restoration of our centre by putting the last clinkers on the floor and also put tiles on the walls in the boys´ shower/toilet.

We are very happy about a contribution from Odd Fellow`s foundation for children.

A visit

We had the privilege to have a visit at the centre of DPE of Fina Senghor, a person who also is engaged in activities concerning the talibées in the northern part of Senegal, Saint Louis.

The center is freshly painted

The center has just been painted and got additional decorations to show the educational part of our engagement.

Reopening

We are so happy to be able to reopen the centre DPE and resume the activities with the childern after the close down due to covid19.

Last week we were invited to radio GFM Ziguinchor to talk about the living conditions of the talibés and the program DPE runs för these children.

A visit

The 15th of January a group of Swedish tourists in passing through Ziguinchhor came to see the center DPE.

A new volonteer

DPE has got it´s second volunteer, Karin from Sweden is working with us now.

New Exhibition

Now there is another small exhibition regarding DPE in the library in Nacka during October.

The Magicians!

A Belgian family of magicians paid our centre a visit during their international tour in poor countries. It was their first time in Senegal and they chose to give a performance at DPE for our children. It was a day never to be forgotten and full of joy.

A new computer

We have received an office computer from a Belgian association through a Belgian woman in Ziguinchor and we are sincerely grateful to them.

Americans paying a visit

Two American missionaries paid us a visit and found the center DPE to be very nice.

Belgiens came to see us

Four Belgian teachers had the opportunity to pay us a visit one day. They found the center very nice in comparison with the school in Ziguinchor where they obtained their practical experience.

A Norwegian visit

A young Norwegian nurse payed us a visit in the center DPE. She was working with us for a couple of days.

Contribution from Colgate

The Company Colgate has kindly donated us lots of toothbrushes and toothpastes.

An exhibition!

We now have a small exhibition regarding DPE in the library in Nacka open until the 27th of February.

Visitors from Sweden

Last Monday four Swedish women paid a visit to our center DPE. They where tourists from Kafountine.

Good news! A big contribution from the Sackaios foundation for equipments for the clinic, the kitchen and the office.

In the daaras

Now we are regularly visiting the daaras twice a week to treat wounds and to better understand the life of the talibés.

English lessons

We have set a free English class going for grown ups. It’s free and it’s every Monday and Wednesday evening at 5p.m. in the centre in Goumel. All interested are very welcome.

Football 3-2!

Our boys had a tough game against a football school for young players in Goumel. The boys from our center won!

Playing soccer

Despite the rainy season we found a place for playing soccer.

Teaching

Every day Saliou is teaching French. Even the younger ones are very interested.

The first visitors

The 9 of May we opened the centre. We found the first boys in the street. The next day they returned accompanied by some friends. The third day we had 18 visitors!

Preparations

The 30 of April we received the keys to the appartement then we could start cleaning, furnishing and so on. An artist who painted the outside wall.

Meeting with the inspector

Today, the 8 of May, we had one of many meetings with l’Inspecteur de la Jeunesse Jean Louis Dacosta. We told him that we have found a place for our centre. He was happy about it and is very supportive.
